Product Overview
The Floating Metal Seated Ball Valve is designed for severe service applications where conventional soft seated ball valves may fail due to high temperature, abrasive particles, or demanding operating conditions.
Unlike soft seated designs that use PTFE or other polymer seats, metal seated ball valves use metal-to-metal sealing surfaces to provide improved resistance to heat, wear, and erosion. The floating ball design allows the ball to move slightly under line pressure, pressing against the downstream metal seat to achieve shut-off.
Raymon Floating Metal Seated Ball Valves are available in different body materials, ball coatings, seat hardening treatments, pressure ratings, and end connections according to actual working conditions.

Metal Seated Design
The metal seated design uses hardened metal contact surfaces between the ball and seat. This structure provides better resistance to high temperature, abrasive particles, and erosion compared with soft seated ball valves.
For demanding applications, the ball and seat can be treated with hard chrome plating, tungsten carbide coating, Stellite hardfacing, or nitriding to improve surface hardness and service life.
Metal seated ball valves are commonly selected when PTFE, RPTFE, or other soft seat materials are not suitable due to temperature limits, solid particles, or severe operating conditions.
Floating Ball Structure
In a floating metal seated ball valve, the ball is not fixed by trunnions. Under line pressure, the ball moves slightly toward the downstream seat to create sealing contact.
This design is compact and suitable for small to medium valve sizes. Compared with trunnion-mounted metal seated ball valves, floating metal seated ball valves are often used where space, cost, and compact structure are important, while still requiring better heat and wear resistance than standard soft seated valves.

FAQ
Q1: What is a Floating Metal Seated Ball Valve?
A: A Floating Metal Seated Ball Valve is a ball valve with a floating ball structure and metal-to-metal sealing surfaces. It is designed for high-temperature, abrasive, or severe service applications where soft seats may not be suitable.
Q2: What is the difference between metal seated and soft seated ball valves?
A: Soft seated ball valves use polymer seats such as PTFE or RPTFE and are suitable for clean media and standard temperatures. Metal seated ball valves use metal sealing surfaces and provide better resistance to high temperature, wear, and abrasive media.
Q3: Can this valve be used for steam service?
A: Yes. Metal seated ball valves are commonly used in steam and high-temperature service, depending on body material, seat material, and surface treatment selection.
Q4: Is this valve suitable for slurry or particle-containing media?
A: Yes. With suitable hardfacing or coating treatment, the valve can be used for slurry, powder, and abrasive media applications.
